Landfall, Lord Howe Island

A$940.00

oil on a cradled wood panel, W 80 x H 60 X 2 cm, sides painted black, unframed, ready to hang.

After several days sailing from Broken Bay in the Gosford to Lord Howe Race, a sense of excitement grips the crew as the Island looms up from the horizon. The race has been watches on deck being drenched with water as waves crash over the decks, little sleep often grabbing a few minutes before being called up for a sail change, then trying to sleep in wet clothes before its time to done the soaked wet weather gear for another watch. Despite the tiredness, everyone is eagerly watching the island grow as we sail closer and closer. The promise of warm showers and cold beer beckons.
