This is a 4 colour reduction linocut print.

Print size 40 x30 cm. Paper Fabriano Rosapina 220 gsm. 50 x41 cm.

Akua inks.

Edition size is just 10.

The lino plate is gradually destroyed by carving away the previous area that was inked and printed with each colour separately.

So for 4 colours, the plate is first drawn with an original drawing, then it is carved to display the artwork.

The first colour is then inked and then a sheet of paper is printed by hand pulling it through my century old Mangle that has been converted to a press.

This is repeated for all 10 sheets of paper as the edition size is 10.

That area that is to remain that colour is then carved away, and then the next colour is inked and hand printed and so on.

Eventually all 10 sheets of paper has been printed with the 4 colours and no further prints are possible from the plate as it has mostly been carved away.

This makes each sheet (print) unique as variations in the inking and pressing occur as it is all completely handmade.
